Course Objective

At the end of the course, participants will be able to prepare dangerous goods consignments for shipping by air according to the ICAO Technical Instructions For The Safe Transport  Of Dangerous Goods By Air & the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

1.Understanding the basics of dangerous goods

Dangerous goods applicability

Understanding the general limitations

Identifying roles and responsibilities

Understanding the importance of classification and packaging

Understanding hazard communication

Familiarising with basic emergency response


2. Classifying dangerous goods

Evaluate a substance or an article against the classification criteria

Determine dangerous goods description

Review special provisions


3. Preparing dangerous goods shipment

Assess packing options including quantity limitations

Apply packing requirements

Apply marks and labels

Assess use of overpack

Prepare documentation

Assessment

A written assessment will be conducted at the end of the course. All successful participants will receive an IATA certificate that is valid for 24 months.
